Your sightseeing bus tour in Liverpool just got even better. We’re delighted to announce a new stop to our LFC City Explorer bus route… the Shankly Museum!
The Shankly Museum aims to deliver an in-depth glimpse into the history that has made the club the powerhouse it is today. Fans can get a peak into the life of Bill Shankly, one of Liverpool Football Club’s greatest managers and the most iconic figure in the club’s history.
What Does the Shankly Museum Feature?
The Shankly Museum is a must-see visit for any diehard Liverpool FC supporter and is a relatively newcomer to the city’s football-themed attractions. The museum has been created with the help of Bill Shankly’s family who have supplied private memorabilia to provide a personal insight into the manager’s life. You can find the Shankly Museum at The Shankly Hotel on Victoria Street, Liverpool. The museum is situated within the hotel’s bar & restaurant so you can admire the historic memorabilia on the floor, walls and ceiling while dining.
Visitors to the museum can inspect a collection of never-before-seen artefacts including Bill Shanky’s original contract at Liverpool Football Club, a telegram from Neil Armstrong, the key to the famous Shankly Gates, and his This Is Your Life book. Also donated by his family are trophies, personal items, scouting books and clothing.
As you walk into the reception area, you will be greeted with a 30ft video wall showing moving images, quotes and photos from Bill Shankly’s career. This area has been designed to provide guests with a place to relax and read some of the letters penned by the manager himself.
