As anyone who has ever visited the city can attest to, Liverpool is home to a range of sightseeing hotspots each of which provide tourists with unmissable spectacular views of the city and beyond. Even lifelong residents will often find new places to to explore and amazing views to marvel at.
No visit to Liverpool is complete without taking in some of these incredible sights which is why we have compiled a list of some of the best views of Liverpool. With views stretching far and wide, you don’t want to miss an opportunity to head to these locations.
Don’t let the name distract you. Everton Park may possess some resemblance to Liverpool Football Club’s local rivals but it’s here where you will be treated to some of the best possible views of the city. Best of all, our LFC City Explorer bus even visits here!
Created in the early 1980s, this elevated park allows you to look down at Liverpool’s famous skyline. You can catch panoramic views of iconic landmarks such as the Radio City Tower, the Anglican Cathedral and the Royal Liver Building. This is a perfect place to walk the dog or host a picnic during the summer months while enjoying the view.
Ferry across the River Mersey and you’ll come across New Brighton, a seaside resort popular with Merseysiders. During its early history this town was initially known for its smuggling and wrecking reputation (some say the secret underground cellars and tunnels exist to this day!), but has since developed into a hotspot for chilled days out.
Head to New Brighton beach and you’ll be able to witness incredible views across the water looking towards the famous Liverpool waterfront. When it comes to special displays and visits from huge cruise ships, you’ll struggle to find a more magnificent location to watch from afar.
River Mersey Ferry Cruise
Fancy getting a tad closer than New Brighton beach? Skip the land experience and go all out with a ferry cruise across the River Mersey. This option allows you to get more up close and personal with the waterfront landmarks while enjoying a lovely breeze.
The daily explorer cruises last nearly an hour and feature onboard commentary from an experienced tour guide. A cafe is available serving hot drinks and refreshments while indoor and outdoor seating is provided. Disembark at one of three terminals to explore more of what Liverpool and the Wirral has to offer.
Anglican Cathedral Tower
Not only is the Anglican Cathedral one of Liverpool’s most iconic buildings with incredible history and architecture, but it is also the third tallest building in the city. Take the unmissable Tower Experience for an exclusive open-air 360˚ panoramic tour of Liverpool and beyond.
The Tower Experience provides access to a range of great activities. You’re able to see the heaviest peal of bells in the world at the Bell Chamber. There are 13 bells surrounding the bourdon bell which is called Great George and larger than Big Ben! Fancy seeing what it’s like to be a bell ringer? There’s a bells simulator experience where you can meet some of the ringers and see the bells up close.
Did you know? Our partners at City Explorer have a combined tour experience where you can go on a river cruise AND a tower tour!
